DIRECTIONS TO NEBAGAMON

...FROM THE MINNEAPOLIS AIRPORT

Exit the airport and follow the signs for I-494 west. Drive about five miles and look for I-35W going north. Follow I-35W and you’ll go through downtown Minneapolis. Keep going. 22 miles north of town, I-35W will join up with I-35E and now you'll be on I-35. Don’t worry, you won’t have to turn or do anything. Just keep going north.

Proceed to Duluth which is about 135 miles north of Minneapolis. You’ll come down the hill into Duluth. You want US 53 to Wisconsin. Look for the sign and take that exit. It’s soon after 27th Street. This will lead you across the Blatnik Bridge that spans St. Louis Bay. At the bottom of the bridge on your right is a turnoff. You will curve around to your right. Keep going and within five hundred yards, you’ll come to a stop sign. Turn left.

Now you are on a divided road, and you remain on it for approximately five miles as you go through Superior. Then the speed limit will go to 65, and you will be on a divided highway that is US 2 and 53 running together as one road. Go another four or five miles, and get in the left lane because you will follow US 2 to Ashland.

Proceed about five miles. You will pass through the hamlet of Poplar. Keep going. About one-half mile past Poplar, you will see a turnoff for County Highway P to Lake Nebagamon. It’s on your right. Take it.

Stay on P about six miles. It will wind around and you will enter the village limits of Lake Nebagamon. When you see a stone house on your left and the welcome sign on your right, just keep going straight. About one-half mile later you will see Camp Nebagamon on your right. Turn up the short hill, and you’re there. If you get into the village, you have gone too far.

...FROM THE DULUTH AIRPORT

Coming out of the airport proceed to the stop sign and turn right onto Haines Road. Proceed about 1.2 miles to Miller Trunk Highway. There’s a traffic light there. Turn left onto Miller Trunk Highway.

Proceed about 2 miles. You will pass Miller Hill Mall on your right. Look for the sign for Highway 53 on your right. Turn right on Highway 53. This road will switchback and you’ll see Lake Superior on your way down the hill. Just make sure you continue to stay on 53. As you approach I-35, follow the signs for Highway 53 to Wisconsin. Do not get on I-35. This will lead you across the Blatnik Bridge that spans St. Louis Bay. At the bottom of the bridge on your right is a turnoff. You will curve around to your right. Keep going and within five hundred yards, you’ll come to a stop sign. Turn left.

...FROM CHICAGO

You can take the Northwest Tollroad past O'Hare or travel north on I-94 to Milwaukee depending on where you are starting from. I-90 and I-94 join up at Madison. Stay on 90-94 to Tomah where the Interstates split. Follow I-94 to St. Paul (do not take I-90 toward Lacrosse).

Take the first Eau Claire exit, which is US 53. Exit right and simply follow the roadway. You'll be going north. For about ten miles you will proceed through Eau Claire with lots of stoplights, fast food, and commercial stuff. After about ten miles look for a sign for US 53 to Superior. You'll exit on your right, drive over a bridge and cross the road you were on, and then you are heading north on US 53. (Of course, you already were on 53 as you went through Eau Claire.)

You need to travel about 110 miles north. You will pass an exit for Solon Springs. Keep going. About seven miles later, you'll see County Highway B. Turn right. Proceed about five miles. The road at one point will turn sharply to your left and then you'll pass the Lake Nebagamon cemetery and you come to a stop sign. Turn right. Go less than one-half mile and on your right on a curve with a flashing yellow light is Camp Nebagamon. Go up the short hill on your right, and that's camp. If you get into the village of Lake Nebagamon, you've gone too far.
